ATTICA. Athens. 132/1 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 17.01 g, 12 h), New style "stephanephoric" coinage, struck under the magistrates Dorotheos, Dioph..., and Diokles. Head of Athena Parthenos to right, wearing a triple-crested Attic helmet, adorned with Pegasos and a long tendril on the bowl and four serpents on the visor, and a pendant earring. Rev. A-ӨE / ΔΩP/OӨE / ΔΙΟ/ΚΛΕ - ΔIOΦ Owl standing facing on amphora; to right, forepart of lion to right; on amphora, B (= 2nd month); below amphora, ME (= contractor's initials); all within olive wreath. HGC 4, 1602. Thompson 384g = Svoronos pl. 46, 17. Very well centered. Obverse struck from a slightly worn die, otherwise, extremely fine.
